363 - Hydrangeas

I probably should have saved this till last (but maybe I'll do a closeup) as my very first 365 photo on January 1st 2010 was of the hydrangeas.

362 - New look geocacher

My geocaching friend was quite vocal on the placement of the first cache I found on Wednesday.

361 - Surplus to requirements

I think it's somewhat surplus to requirements - but it is reminiscent of what the track used to look like years ago when we first started walking it - much easier to bike these days.

350 - Bosun's Pipe

An unusual present from a sailing mad student - one I'll treasure for a long time - a miniature boatswain's pipe (aka bosun's pipe) - now to practice playing it!

349 - Sleeping Dragon

Not the best picture I know - this was a present from one of my students. It will sit on my desk/teacher space next year I think.

339 - Black and White

I've been watching videos from this site: http://iphonecameraessentials.com/video-1/  -- learned lots already about my iPhone and iphoneography - the video i watched today was about black and white editing - this is my first try at it - using curves was a totally new experience - and i used a new app called filter storm.

327 - Dragonsinger

This is not the image I was going to post today - but then I heard that Anne McCaffrey had died. I feel such a profound sense of loss. I loved her characters - so much so that when I needed a nickname to use on bulletin boards (before the internet was invented) I chose 'dragonsinger' (drgnsngr) - the character this book is about is a woman, a mother, a singer, a musician, and a teacher. At the time I chose the name I was all of these except teacher - now I am a teacher too. And I'm known to many as dragonsinger - the name has stuck!

I'm closing my computer down and going to re-read (for the umpteenth time) Dragonsinger, Harper of Pern - and once again imagine myself soaring high on the dragons of Anne's imagination.

RIP Anne - I hope you're soaring on your gold dragon forever.

321 - Sea of yellow

I love this sea of yellow that greets me when I walk out of the learning street.

320 - Planting Season

I spotted these being planted yesterday by a neighbor - makes a difference to the tired lavender that was previously there.
